Q: What holidays does Marv’s observe?
A: We don't work on 6 holidays, which are New Years, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If the holiday falls on your trash day, your trash will be picked up the next day. Exception: If your service day is Friday, your trash will be picked up on Thursday that week.
Q: What time is trash picked up?
A: We begin residential collection at 7:00 a.m. We ask everyone to have their trash out by 7:00 a.m. to avoid missing your collection.
Q: Why is my recyclable cart emptied at a different time of day than the trash?
A: The recycling cart is dumped by a hydraulic lift into a small packer truck. This truck dumps all the carts from each route that day.
Q: What are my payment options?
A: The following payment types are accepted:
- Cash
- Check
- Automatic Withdrawl
Checks can be mailed to PO Box 733, Brandon, SD 57005 or dropped off in the mail slot at our office at 816 E. Redwood Blvd. Brandon. Please do not leave payments out for the workers to collect.
We do not accept credit or debit cards.
Q: Do you rent dumpsters to your customers?
A: Yes, renting a dumpster is an option if you are or soon will be a customer of Marv’s.
Q: Can I get a dumpster for shingling my roof?
A: No we do not rent dumpsters for shingles. A roll-off container is a better choice.
Q: Do you haul away branches?
A: Yes. Call the office for more details.
Q: Do you haul away appliances and furniture?
A: Yes. Call the office for more details and prices.
Q: Do you haul away junk or construction debris?
A: Yes – call the office for more details.
Q: Are hardcover books recyclable?
A: Yes. One or two in the single-stream recycling is okay. Please make special arrangements for a box full or more.
Q: My recycling is overflowing. What should I do?
A: You have the following options:
- You may use another can or tote with secure lids to store it in until recycling day.
- You may rent a 96-gallon cart to hold more recyclables.
- You may arrange for recyclables to be picked up on an off day. A small fee may apply.

Q: Can I recycle corrugated cardboard every trash day?
A: Yes – Corrugated cardboard can be put out any trash day. All cardboard must be flat.
Q: Is Styrofoam recyclable?
A: No. There is virtually no place in the country where widespread recycling of Styrofoam is happening.
Q: Can I put a deer carcass in my garbage?
A: No. Deer, elk and antelope carcasses are banned from the regular garbage. Call the Sioux Falls Regional Land Fill to see what options they have for disposing of these items. Phone number is 605-367-8162.
